Annabel's Mayfair: How to Get In, Membership & the Alternatives

Annabel's is the most famous nightclub name in London — and the one we get asked about most that we have to answer honestly: you almost certainly can't get in, and neither can we get you in. Here's how entry really works, and where the same calibre of night is actually bookable.

What Annabel's Is

Founded in 1963 by Mark Birley beneath the Clermont Club, Annabel's is the original — the members' club where royalty and rock stars genuinely did share the dancefloor, and famously the only nightclub the late Queen ever visited. Since 2018 it has occupied 46 Berkeley Square, a Georgian townhouse rebuilt into one of the most extravagant interiors in London: restaurants, bars, a garden, and club spaces across multiple floors, with the flower-covered façade that half of Instagram has photographed.

Its cultural weight is exactly why so many people search for a way in. So, the honest answers:

How Entry Actually Works

Membership — by application, typically with proposers who are existing members, committee review, joining fees and annual subscriptions at the very top of the London market, and a waiting list. It is among the hardest memberships in the city, and the club publishes no shortcuts because there are none.

As a member's guest — the realistic route for most people who ever see the inside. Members bring guests under the club's rules; if you know a member, that's your way in.

Private events — companies and individuals do hold events there, and attending one gets you through the door.

What doesn't exist: a guestlist, a door price, public table bookings, or any legitimate third party selling entry. We book tables at venues across Mayfair every night — Annabel's is not one of them, for us or anyone else. Anyone claiming otherwise is selling something they don't have.

What people actually want from an Annabel's night — heritage, elegance, a beautiful room, a serious crowd — exists in bookable form within a few minutes' walk:

• Maddox Club — the closest match in atmosphere: an intimate, members-club-style room off Hanover Square that non-members can book. Tables from £1,000.
• Scotch of St James — genuine 1960s heritage in Masons Yard; the room where the Beatles and Hendrix drank, still trading, and open to table bookings with the lowest VIP minimum in the area (£1,500).
• Dear Darling Mayfair — Jermyn Street elegance with a refined crowd and two floors.
• Tabu London — Dover Street, for a more theatrical, high-production night around the corner from Berkeley Square.
