Sexy Fish London: The Late-Night Bar, DJs & How to Get a Table

Sexy Fish is one of the most searched venues in Mayfair, and one of the most misunderstood at night. People look for a "Sexy Fish guestlist" that doesn't exist, because Sexy Fish isn't a club. Here's how a night there actually works, and how to build the full dinner-into-clubbing night around it.

What Sexy Fish Is

Opened in 2015 on Berkeley Square, Sexy Fish is an Asian-inspired restaurant that doubles as one of London's most spectacular rooms: Damien Hirst mermaids, Frank Gehry crocodile chairs, and a bar holding one of the largest Japanese whisky collections anywhere. It's a fixture of the Mayfair celebrity circuit, and on Thursday to Saturday nights the energy shifts: DJs come on, the lighting drops, and the restaurant floor runs like a party into the early hours.

What it is not: a nightclub. There's no dancefloor admission, no guestlist, no door price. Entry is a reservation.

How to Get In

Book the restaurant, directly with the venue. Sexy Fish handles its own reservations through its website: we don't arrange them, and nobody else legitimately does either. The move that works: a later dinner slot on Friday or Saturday, which flows straight into the DJ hours without re-entry or a second plan. Prime weekend times book out well in advance.

The bar takes its own bookings and some walk-ins early; by late evening on a weekend, walk-in space is scarce and the room belongs to diners and bar reservations.

Dress accordingly: smart casual read generously upward. This is a room people dress up for; tailoring, dresses and proper shoes fit, sportswear doesn't. The same instincts from our London club dress code guide apply.

The Full Night: Dinner at Sexy Fish, Party Next Door

Funky Buddha and Luxx on Berkeley Street have closed, and Itzel (formerly Funky Buddha) now operates at their address; we book Itzel too, so ask us when you enquire. Tabu on Dover Street is now Rumour and Cuckoo Club on Swallow Street is now 99 Regent Street, and we book both.
